Letzten Sonntag im Enchilada, der spanischen Cocktailbar zu Münster: Der Problembär zu Gast bei EPIC.
Scheinbar erlebt Deutschland jedes Jahr ein Bären-Drama. Diese Jahr steht der süße Eisbär Kurt aus dem Berliner Zoo im Mittelpunkt. Letztets Jahr war es "der Problembär": Der wilde Bär Bruno wanderte von Österreich nach Bayern, und dank Schengen-Abkommen ganz ohne Grenzkontrolle. So streunte er dort für einige Wochen durch die Gegend, wilderte hier und da, und riß schon mal eine Ziege oder ein Huhn. Das machte ihn zum Problem-Bären. Er wurde unvorhersehbar, unkontrollierbar. Die Gefahr für noch größeren Schaden war einfach zu groß, so die Politiker. Er musste weg.
Die Wahrheit ist: Bei jedem von hat sich solchen ein Problembär eingenistet. Es sind die negativen Charaktereigenschaften, mit denen wir selbst, und Menschen um uns herum, so unsere Probleme haben. Es ist das Tier in uns. Eigentlich ganz süß, wird er manchmal doch unkontrollierbar und bricht wildernd aus, wobei er ne Menge Schaden anrichtet. Für uns selbst wie für unsere Mitmenschen, meistens besonders für die, die uns am nächsten stehen.
Was ist Dein Problembär? Vielleicht eine dieser sieben, durch Cocktails charakterisierten Eigenschaften? Show der Problembären (man könnte auch sagen "Schweinehunde") durch Klick darauf starten:

This life (I am talking about the physical one, that thing we came to call "reality") has it's ups and downs. Usually each of us can instantly name a list of things we like about our life, and list of things we don't: You don't like your butt, nose, hips, hair? You don't like your image, colleagues, neighbors? You don't like your job? Well, here is your chance: Construct yourself another identity in a different life. How? With SecondLife.
"SecondLife is a 3D online digital world imagined, created & owned by its residents", as the self-description goes. And the latest census showed 3,602,097 (Feb 14, 2007) of those residents and owners of this new world. Numbers rapidly growing.
In this (almost) complete virtual reality, you can do pretty much everything you can do in "real" life too: Sell, buy, cloth yourself, go for a walk through the neighborhood, lay at the beach, have a job, befriend others, make love, buy land, build a house, watch a movie, ... You choose how you want your life to look like.
This starts already by naming yourself as you are born (i.e., you register as a new resident in this world). It is quite a contingency experience already at the beginning: How do you name yourself? You can freely choose your first name in your second life but of course you also need a last name, which you have to choose from a list of options. Wow, quite a big step to choose how you will be named your second life long. In the first life others (most likely your parents) decided how to name you - and thus construct a core element of your identity. Now YOU have to make this crucial decision - already before you are born. Once you have named yourself the next difficult choice awaits you: How do you want to look? You need to choose an avatar (a visual impression of your virtual identity). Not easy either. The last thing relating to the real world then is to fill in some real world data. After doing that and downloading the SecondLife client - you are born and immediately able to walk in your new life. Now choose wise how you want to live your life...
But more then only deciding who you want to be and what you want to do in your second life, you also
have the chance of sharing in the construction of the world you live in itself. You are bored or not happy with the opportunities life offers to you? Or you have a great idea how to make life more enjoyable? Well, invent
and/or create a new feature of this world - let's say, some cool new shoes to wear -
and make it available to others. Either for free or by selling it for
some "Linden Dollars", the currency of this world. This world is open for everybody to shape. Join the creation. Become a creator. And besides making this world a better place, you might even get rich by it. This is (about the only place) where your first and second life meet: The virtual Linden Dollars from SecondLife have an exchange rate to the real US-Dollar in your first life. As you want to buy and/or sell in the virtual world you have to have a credit card number or a paypal account from the real world. With this basic structure some have become rich in both worlds. So, in case you do not like your job in the first life, resign, sell or trade some cool stuff in your second life and cash it. But why should you come back to your first life? After all, you made a living out of your success in the SecondLife. All your friends are there, you own a house on some nice land, you ... You can even go to a live U2 concert with Bono !!! Wer bin ich? Wie bin ich zu dem geworden, der ich bin? Wie stellt Gott sich meine Persönlichkeit vor? Wie kann ich als Persönlichkeit reifen, wachsen, mich weiterentwickeln?
Wichtige Fragen, die irgendwie irgendwann jeden von uns beschäftigen.
Derzeit arbeite ich an einer langfristig angelegten Entdeckungsreise (manche mögen Kurs oder Seminar dazu sagen), die zu wesentlichen Orten der eigenen Identität führt. Bisher gibt es 6 Etappen, die einige mutige Reisende aus EPIC bereits bereist haben. Weitere Etappen sind in der Mache. Über Feedback würde ich mich freuen: ID-Reise.
Die Persönlichkeitsentwicklung, so habe ich den Eindruck, ist in unserer europäischen Kultur ein weit unterbelichteter Wert. Man spricht von Fähigkeiten, Skills und einen möglichst klarem Lebenslauf. Dass das Leben aber oft nicht linear ist und sich daraus vielfältige Chancen, Herausforderungen und Probleme ergeben, wird meines Erachtens viel zu sehr vernachlässigt. Manchmal hat man den Eindruck unsere Gesellschaft hat nur Platz für Typen die (scheinbar) alles unter Kontrolle haben. Beim Streben möglichst gut darzustehen - vor anderen wie vor sich selbst - wird der gründliche, tiefer gehenden Blick in den Spiegel als nur auf die Frisur dann vermieden. Verständlich, schließlich ist es nicht nur angenehm sich mit sich selbst zu beschäftigen, je nachdem wie die eigene Geschichte bisher verlief. Die meisten schauen bei ihrem Auto vermutlich häufiger unter die Motorhaube als auf die eigene Persönlichkeit, die Prägungen und den Charakter. Falls dem so ist muss sich was ändern. Zum Wohle eines selbst und aller anderen, die es mit einem aushalten müssen ...

The list could go on and touch on every aspect of our lives. As Zygmunt Bauman says, we live in a fluent form of modernity, where we have to construct our self again and again. Everything is contingent, meaning everything could be different too and could change in a moment. This Contingency depends heavily on media, as media offers us a wide variety of potential structures of meaning and consequently building blocks in the endeavor to construct. One can argue that without media there would be no modernity as we know it.
With the internet, and particular web 2.0, media becomes much more then a tool to transmit information and much more then something external to be consumed only. As time and space shrink together we are only at the beginning to see and feel the revolutionizing dynamics of the web. When web 1.0 meant worldwide access to information, and web 2.0 means interaction and participation, what will web 3.0 be?

This song from Link Park captures one of our deepest desires, namely, to belong. Yet we struggle. We feel lost, disconnected. We, sometimes, are confused. We are stuck in the process of finding our place in this world, our role in this enormously complex play.
We want to heal. We want to feel what we thought was never real. We want to know ourselves. And in order to do so we long to belong.

Last week I watched a movie I higly recommend. It was made in 2005 and is called "An unfinished life" (in German "Ein ungezähmtes Leben" - was mal wieder völlig daneben weil unpassend ist!).
As the movie sits on the shelf of your movie store, is catches your attention because of it's star ensemble of actors: Robert Redford - Morgan Freeman - Jennifer Lopez - Josh Lucas - all in the same film. As you take a closer look you discover that it is also directed by Lasse Hallström (he already directed the movie Chocolat, among many others). Those five names, as well as the info that the movie is about decisive life circumstances that turn your world upside down and pose a challenge to you how to grapple with those, convinced me to rent it.
Not a mistake to do, I would say. In short, and without telling too much, the story is ...
I recently read these pointing words from worship leader David Crowder in the RELEVANT-newsletter:
Lately I've been thinking about the soul. And death. Our mortal state, situated here as humans. It seems like we don't do that much anymore—think about death and the nature of the soul and the body. And maybe this is understandable, seeing as it used to be our primary point of conversation when discussing our faith with others—the turn-or-burn evangelism of our not-too-distant past. The logic was that if the present were just transitory, if we're just passing through, then it followed that there was no need to feel any affinity toward this place or spend much time trying to tidy up, which is almost brilliant. But we've now moved on, I think. The present has taken center stage. But my fear is that in hopes of becoming more palatable and less divisive, we forget the eternal unfolding in our words and deeds.
I think we live in a space divided. I think Jesus insisted that the kingdom of heaven was not just a space we would later inhabit, but also one that He was bringing here and now. We exist with one foot here in the earthly and one in the eternal. Yet we rarely feel it. We rarely live with a sense that someone should take a picture. That what is happening right now bears documentation. That we're in two places at once.
I want to live a faith that is a reflection of the cost of its eternal origin, not merely a reflection of my transient one. I want to feel the reality of where we sit. That the things we decide here are eternal ones. That our conversations mean something. I want to live in a manner that feels heroic, that turns the invisible into the visible, that is a solid intrusion of the eternal into the divided streets of humanity.

I don't know about you, but it reminds me about two things. First, to stay in a pasture of gratitude, instead of always complaining (and therefore longing for more). Second, to reach out to those who have less then myself. One could say to move down rather then looking for the next step up. Wes, a friend of mine once coined the term "downward mobility". Like that. It speaks about a direction and a mindset.
Ich habe die umstrittene Rede von Papst Benedikt in Regensburg gelesen. In Ihr geht es ihm vorranging um die Beziehung des Glaubens zu Vernuft, und daraus resultierenden über vernunftgemäßes Handeln. Dabei spricht er über grichische Philosophie, über mittelalterliche (thomisistische) Sichtweisen, und über die aktuell in der deutschen Theologie vorherrschende, historisch-kritische Betrachtungsweise des Glaubens. Als Einleitung und Schluß - also als stilistische Klammer - verwendet er einen Dialog des byzantinischen Kaisers Manuel II. mit einem gebildeten Perser. Dieser Dialog wurde von besagtem Kaiser um 1400 selbst niedergeschrieben, und von dem münsteraner Professor Theodore Khoury aufbereitet und herausgegeben. Hier der Abschnitt, der letzte Woche die Gemüter erhitzte [Quelle: br-online.de; Link zum kompletten Artikel]:
Ohne sich auf Einzelheiten wie die unterschiedliche Behandlung von "Schriftbesitzern" und "Ungläubigen" einzulassen, wendet er [Anm.: der Kaiser Manuel II] sich in erstaunlich schroffer Form ganz einfach mit der zentralen Frage nach dem Verhältnis von Religion und Gewalt überhaupt an seinen Gesprächspartner. Er sagt: "Zeig mir doch, was Mohammed Neues gebracht hat und da wirst du nur Schlechtes und Inhumanes finden wie dies, dass er vorgeschrieben hat, den Glauben, den er predigte, durch das Schwert zu verbreiten".
Der Kaiser begründet dann eingehend, warum Glaubensverbreitung durch Gewalt widersinnig ist. Sie steht im Widerspruch zum Wesen Gottes und zum Wesen der Seele. "Gott hat kein Gefallen am Blut, und nicht vernunftgemäß (Papst spricht griechisch ) zu handeln, ist dem Wesen Gottes zuwider. Der Glaube ist Frucht der Seele, nicht des Körpers. Wer also jemanden zum Glauben führen will, braucht die Fähigkeit zur guten Rede und ein rechtes Denken, nicht aber Gewalt und Drohung… Um eine vernünftige Seele zu überzeugen, braucht man nicht seinen Arm, nicht Schlagwerkzeuge noch sonst eines der Mittel, durch die man jemanden mit dem Tod bedrohen kann…".
Der entscheidende Satz in dieser Argumentation gegen Bekehrung durch Gewalt lautet: Nicht vernunftgemäß handeln, ist dem Wesen Gottes zuwider.
Dabei ist vorab der Kontext dieser Diskussion zwischen Kaiser und Perser wichtig zu beachten. Für die damalige Zeit (um 1400) war eine solche polemische Diskussion, die lange mit Rede und Widerrede hin und her gehen konnte, gang und gäbe. Der Persische Gesprächspartner des Kaisers hat sich damals vor den Toren Konstantinopels durch die polemische Fragestellung höchstwahrscheinlich nicht echauffiert.
Aber nicht nur der zeitgeschichtliche Kontext ist von Bedeutung. Zwei weitere Kontexte sind m.E. wichtig zu beachten, um die Papstworte richtig einzuordnen. Zum einen ist da der Kontext der Rede selbst. Es geht in ihr nicht um den Islam, sondern
Immer auf der Suche nach frischen Ideen für Persönlichkeitsentwicklung, Teamfähigkeit und Teambuilding habe ich vor einigen Wochen ein kleines, unscheinbares Büchlein zur Hand genommen, und eine interessante Gruppenaktion gefunden. Ich war auf der Suche nach einer einfachen, leicht durchführbaren Teambuilding-Aktivität die das Zusammengehörigkeitsgefühl und die Kooperationsfähigkeit einer bestimmten Gruppe von Leitern fördern würde.
Das unscheinbare Büchlein meines Freundes Frank: "Gruppen formen. 55 spielerische Impulse", Frank Bonkowski, Aussaat Verlag, 2006. Und günstig, nur 4,90€!
Die coole Aktion Nr 26: "Aktionen im Fahrradschlauch":
benötigtes Material: Ein Fahrradschlauch. Er kann ein Loch (oder mehrere) haben. Meinen (mit Loch) habe ich umsonst in der Fahrradabteilung von Karstadt bekommen. Danke Karstadt! ;-)
Spieldauer: 15-30 Minuten
Idee: Ungefähr 10 Personen werden in einen Fahrradschlauch gezwängt. Der Schlauch wirkt als "verbindendes Element". :-)Dann wird die Gruppe aufgefordert, verschiedene AKtionen durchzuführen. Hört sich alles leichter an als es ist. Zum Beispiel: Sich gemeinsam auf den Boden setzen und wieder aufstehen. Oder: Zusammen durch die Tür gehen. Witzig war auch: Gemeinsam auf dem Sofa platznehmen. Alternativ: Über ein Hinderniss steigen.
Lernziel: Kooperation. Zusammengehörigkeitsgefühl
Es war einfach nur lustig, aussagekräftig und prägend! Danke, Frank, für die Idee.
